MaQuEst
MaQuEst: making Grand Est a European hub for quantum innovation
Bridging academia and industry to foster an ecosystem leveraging high-performance computing and quantum computing
Grand Est’s node in France’s Quantum Initiative
The Maison du Quantique Initiative
Launched in 2022 under France’s national quantum strategy, the Hybrid HPC Quantum Initiative established a network of five regional Maison du Quantique to spread hybrid quantum computing across the country. Selected in 2024, each Maison du Quantique bridges academic and industrial communities by:
- Strengthening technological platform usability
- Promoting the use of France’s technological platforms
- Attracting international talents in quantum computing
- Developing France’s notoriety at an international level
- Encouraging foreign quantum computing hardware and software startups to establish themselves in France
As part of this network, MaQuEst, the Maison du Quantique Grand Est, aims to support the emergence of a dynamic and diverse quantum ecosystem across the Grand Est region.
Bridging academia and industry in Grand Est
Fostering Grand Est’s quantum ecosystem
MaQuEst’s mission is to establish the Grand Est area as a leading player in the national and European landscape of hybrid computing, combining high-performance computing (HPC) and quantum computing.
Rooted in a region that already boasts a dynamic environment: cutting-edge research, specialised training programmes, cross-border dynamics and multidisciplinary initiatives, MaQuEst builds on a network of three physical sites, Strasbourg, Reims, and Troyes, and three satellite offices. Bringing together researchers, companies, startups and public institutions, MaQuEst strives to accelerate the adoption of quantum computing across the region.

Three main priorities: connect, train, innovate
To transform the quantum and entrepreneurial landscape of Grand Est through the development and adoption of quantum technologies, MaQuEst aims to:
Connect
and build a network of actors working on concrete quantum use-cases in Grand Est and strengthen ties with industrial partners
Train
and raise the awareness of business decision-makers on the usage and deployment of quantum computing
Innovate
and identify application, tools and methods, with high potential to foster startup creation and attract new players in the region
Our governance
Composed of representatives from MaQuEst’s partner institutions at vice-president, head of research and/or innovation level, the Management Board provides strategic and financial directions to the project and establishes a strong network with its partners.
